Fan X Fan Show: 'Suicide Squad' Review (w/ Ted Colunga of Countdown City Geekcast)
No Flash, No Preacher... no problem! DC messed around and put out a hit, so it's only right we take the time to break down the rights, wrongs, high and lows of 'Suicide Squad'! This week, my guest Ted Colunga of the 'Countdown City Geekcast' and I discuss lost high school years, how binge watching affects family time, and the greatness that is the Comic Con experience. After the formalities, we talk some 'Man of Steel' and 'Batman v. Superman', his undying optimism, and my everlasting pessimism, on our way to 'Suicide Squad'. We get into Will Smith's return to the summer blockbuster, what could have been with Tom Hardy, the new Joker/ Harley dynamic, and ALL THE THINGS THEY LEFT ON THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR! You'll hear us pray to the altar of Viola Davis, admit 'Avengers 2' was kinda trash, and try to figure out how to get BET 'Uncut' in 2016 on this week's Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 109 - "Finish the Song"
He's back! After a week with his OTHER friends in the American Midwest, Travis is back to reading comics and talking shop with yours truly! We touch a bit on his time at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (for the full story, listen to the 7/27/16 edition of the PW Torch East Coast Cast) and travels along the way. We talk a bit about the episode he skipped out on (thanks Trevor) before getting the visually stunning penultimate episode that was "Finish the Song". Jesse escapes custody, and eats "under the bridge brunch" with the locals. Tulip escapes her babysitting duties, and proceeds to see about a man in Albuquerque. And Emily escapes the lame she was seeing, who Cassidy, in turn, sees and eats. IT'S ALL RELATIVE! Jesse makes peace with Cassidy, Quincannon prepares for his greatest victory, and we go to Hell like 45 times. Deblanc does his best goalie impression, The Sheriff eases a bit of built up stress... and we'll never look at PetSmart the same way again on this week's Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 108 - "El Valero" (w/ Trevor Reece)
CROSSOVER EPISODE! This week, with Travis purifying himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka, I'm joined by Trevor Reece of the 'Podcast of Two Worlds'! We talk about the insightful and detailed Flash coverage he does with partner in crime Chris Fimbres, his love of the source material, and of course, his adoration of 'Preacher'. He picks a great week to stalk stylized ultraviolence, as Jesse fends off the Quincannon boys with Karate, Choppers and Molotov cocktails! Blood will be shed and penises will be lost (no, really, shot smooth off)! We see the accident that causes Quincannon's change of heart, Donnie finds a way to circumvent Jesse's gift, and Tulip goes pup hunting! Eugene's back, Eugene's gone, Genesis is gone, Genesis is back... and Miles finally shows his hand. All this, a potential God run-in, and much more on this week's Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 107 - "He Gone"
This week, I spend some time telling you that if you think diversity in comics is "PC", you're a piece of s**t. No, seriously, I do. And if you think that, you are. We talked about it, and I felt it was wrong to have platform like this and not talk race in America in the wake of what's been happened around us, well, all our lives. We touch on some things, and welcome feedback. However, the meat of this episode is the FANTASTIC follow up to the best 'Preacher' show so far. In "He Gone"... he gone! "He" is most notably Eugene, who was wished away to Hell (seriously) after a heated conversation with Jesse, who's more focused on putting butts in the seats than really helping people. A healthy heaping on flashbacks take place, as we see the incidents that brought Jesse and Tulip together, and at times set them apart. Cassidy struggles to find the good in Jesse, and takes drastic measures to bring it out of him. Tulip proves to be a world class athlete and a bottom shelf cook in the same day, Emily is the most down ass woman living, and Quincannon has a surprise for Jesse he can't quite accept! We find out Eugene's real crime (and why he's not behind bars maybe) and talk some Old Testament justice! All this, and Travis finds a way to hate on the greatness of Wally West newly unveiled "Kid Flash" costume on this week's Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 106 - "Sundowner"
PANTHEON EPISODE ALERT! Even though it's been a short run, THIS IS the episode of 'Preacher' you go and show your friends not familiar with the material. In "Sundowner", Jesse's arrogance (and maybe guilt?) reaches new heights, Cassidy struggles w/ the "homies over heauxs" conundrum (a phrase, not an indictment), and Eugene's newfound friendships help him give him some clarity in a world quickly falling apart. Angels fighting vampires fighting martial artists? Check. Piles of bodies filling hotel rooms? Check. People quite literally going to Hell? Check. Skinny guys doing laundry in their underpants? DOUBLE CHECK. The war between Heaven and Hell seems to have some very clear lines, and when those are crossed? Well, we get a TV show!!! I tell you about the audio that'll NEVER see the light of day, Travis tells us about the time he was STABBED FOR WEARING JEANS TO A BASKETBALL GAME, and I tell you how a 3 hours cut of 'Batman V. Superman' was just an excuse for more bathroom breaks on this week's Fan X Fan Show!
Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 105 - "South Will Rise Again" (w/ Bruce Mitchell)
After a few bumps in the road, we're here at the halfway point of the inaugural season of 'Preacher'! We start off celebrating the news of the show's early renewal, then meet this week's guest, Senior Columnist (and my personal favorite podcaster) Bruce Mitchell from the Pro Wrestling Torch! Bruce takes us to school on 'Preacher', Garth Ennis, ultra violence in comics and maintaining the soul of the art in the transition from page to screen. We take turns yelling at Travis for being a terrible, terrible advice taker, and have some extended time discussing 'Lucifer', 'Rebirth' and 'Watchmen'. This week's episode, "South Will Rise Again", gives us peak arrogant Jesse, Tulip buying the most expensive item on the menu, and Cassidy capitalizing on said item. We have another extended "Saint" flashback, talk about the terrible children that love Native scalps, the old western trope of shooting people in the hand, and maybe bringing your dying child medicine instead of doing other stuff. We find our weekly Easter Egg, and try our best to keep our wives from screwing Russell in Accounting! All this, and Wade Keller's Curry 2 Lows, on this week's Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 103 - "The Possibilities"
This week, prior to our episode breakdown, we take the time to thank the lovely folks of Ashburn, VA, for rocking with us. Specifically because we know NO ONE there, y'all must really dig us! Also, we salute Belgium for the same reason, and I refrain from any waffle jokes. We talk just a bit about our weeks, I talk about how hard it is to get your friends to listen to your mixtape, and completely forget to talk about the greatness of the OJ Simpson 30 for 30 (even though I talked it up for 20 minutes of our preshow). This week's episode "The Possiblities" gives us a snuff film festival, Jesse with a really bad haircut, and proves that children are the most hurtful creatures on planet Earth. Tulip plays war vet, Cassidy plays middleman, and Jesse plays puppetmaster en route to figuring out just what the power is residing inside of him. Quincannon shines, Geico Peter Pan unwittingly throws his pops to the wolves, and our two "Agents" give us a closer look into their mission. All this, GUNS ON GUNS ON GUNS ON GUNS, and the "dinner tray in the stone", on this week's Fan X Fan show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 102 - "See"
With a short turnaround between shows, we dive deeper into the peculiar world of Annville, TX. Travis still can't fathom the logistics of a Meat and Energy Company, I try and understand the logistics of... wait for it... the attack of the clones! Cassidy continues to shine, and I wonder aloud if a change was made between his fighting style between the pilot and our second episode, "See". We talk about the wonders of short shorts, Tulip being a treat, both in dialogue and action, and how manifest destiny translates to dark skinned folks getting their wigs split. Jesse struggles with trying to build up his congregation, and this week's tasks involve tempering the desires of a pedophile, and finding the right way to address a comatose teenager. All this, as well as properly rating 'The Big Lebowksi' and 'Clerks' on this week's South Kongress Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'Preacher' 101 - "Pilot"
No Flash? No Problem! Travis and I team up for a new season of the South Kongress Fan x Fan show to cover one of my longtime loves-turned-show, 'Preacher', based on the Vertigo Comics title of the same name. In the 90 minute premiere, we talk about the great state of Texas, different states of vampirism, and state our undying love for Priscilla-Jean Henrietta O'Hare. We get to see our titular character do his best to balance his commitment to the world with his desire to hold onto a past life, while dealing with momma's boys, funny-style policemen and women that like things... a bit rough. I touch on a few of the other Vertigo comics in this universe, some noticeable differences from the comic continuity/ characterization THAT BIG GIANT EASTER EGG FROM THE JUMP, our new format for this season, and welcome in a new audience to this little thing of ours. And naturally, us being us, we do a bit of the "oh, THAT'S how you feel about organized religion?" song and dance. All this, and a boy with an ass where his face used to be, on this week's Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'The Flash' 223 - "The Race of His Life"
THIS IS IT! Twenty three episodes deep, and that's a wrap on season two! In "The Race of His Life", Barry has to decide on revenge, or saving the world, against hated rival Zoom. We finally learn the identity of the Man in the Iron Mask, and it just may be the catalyst for sending Barry to the (flash)point of no return! Travis and I talk season long payoffs, character progression, what we expect to happen in the future, and all the things we learned about the show on the way. Don't worry, we don't be gone for very long, as we gear up to cover AMC's 'Preacher', and this time around, we'll have some great contributors to the cause! We take the time to thank you all, and each other, for supporting us along the way, because you all make this so rewarding! Get ready for the big one, as we tackle the season finale of our beloved Flash!
Fan X Fan Show: 'The Flash' 222 - "Invincible"
To quote an anti-hero that wears black, talking to a hero who wears red, in another fantastic comics to film adaptation: "You're one bad day away from being me." Zoom puts this theory to the test in the penultimate episode “Invincible”, as Team Flash faces the loss of one of their own. Barry’s visit w/ the Speed Force has him confident in the team’s ability to take down Zoom, but the other members stress the need for him to curb that enthusiasm. Fitting that motif, a certain deceased Arrow character's doppelganger appears as Zoom's sole surviving lieutenant, leading the hordes of villains at his disposal. Wally can't sit on the sidelines, Henry finds a new love interest, and our young scientists play a dangerous game of dress-up! We get closer to Zoom's ultimate goal, make some progress in the Barry/ Iris love saga, and get vanity headphones that work about at well as... our Earth's vanity headphones! All this, and we're DAYS AWAY FROM OUR NEW SUMMER SHOW AND I'M SO EXCITED!!! Travis is... well, he's getting there. We take the time to shout out some of our fellow Flash/ Nerd podcasters, put out a few "what if's" for the finale/next season, and thank you guys for rocking with us through 22 straight Flash Episodes! All this and more on this week's Fan X Fan Show!
Fan X Fan Show: 'The Flash' 221 - "The Runaway Dinosaur"
Sorry for the wait! The NBA playoffs have taken up some of our recording time, but uh... we're good on that now. Travis and make appropriate time to gush over the greatness that was 'Captain America: Civil War'. We talk characters, motivations, sounds and sights of what I'm going to say is the best superhero movie ever (Trav refrains from such declarations, but he also thought Eric Bana 'Hulk' movie was good smh). We don't dive TOO DEEP into spoiler territory, but when we do, we give very fair warning. I'll tell you about the web series I worked on this week, and how great the team I worked with made the experience. We're nearing the end of our Flash season. Real Tears. Barry's in Speedforce limbo, and the team's split between getting him back, making sure Jessie hasn't kicked the bucket, and fending off a previously deceased man made of metal. Barry meets the ghosts of cosmos past, present, and future as he tries to find his way home, and Joe does a very obvious test with Wally to determine the effects of the Accelerator on him, and Zoom has a legion of funny haired baddies at his disposal! All this and more on this week's Fan X Fan show!

Fan X Fan Show: Spring Break #3 (Wrestlemania Edition)
* Originally posted 4/13/16*
It's still spring break for the Fan X's, as our beloved Flash decided he needed a bit more time in the oven. Luckily, we get to tell you about our super exciting weekend in Dallas for Wrestlemania! We take you through our parallel trips to meet up, the journey that was the Dallas road trip, our fantastic meetup at the Kung Fu Saloon, and of course, the epic tailgate leading to the big event. It wasn't all sweet, and Trav tells you about his often stalled journey home, I fall down in hallways and steal footballs but get away with it because I'm so gosh darn handsome, and I let you know about a very special pair of $300 sunglasses. We also take a bit of time to talk THE AUDACITY OF A BATMAN V. SUPERMAN EXTENDED CUT, Suicide Squad re-shoots, Desiigner having a single that charted higher than any Future single, and why your feedback helps keep the show going. All this and more on this week's Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'The Flash' 219 - "Back to Normal"
"Hey, I didn't do a whole lot this week, this should be a pretty fast show!" Yeah... never. "Panda" is the #1 song in the country this week, and I try to explain that because kids are dumb, it's really not Desiigner's fault. I explain my excitement for the upcoming Drake/Future tour, that has it's first stop here in Austin. We both commit to listening to "Views from the 6" this weekend, so we can give an honest review next week. Travis fills us on his continued love affair with "Ant-Man", and his great time at a Polica concert. I talk about the difficulties of eating five times a day, our upcoming flagship episodes, and the homie's new comic series that just went into print! On this week's Flash episode, we see Barry adjust back to life as a normal, the young Miss Wells understand the value in killing the bad guys, and a "flash-off" between Our titular hero and his potential running buddy (see what I did there?)! Our villain of the week seems to grow old with anger, and boy is that Zoom one scarred supervillain! We THINK we've figured out just who's behind that mask, to varying degrees of excitement. Caitlyn gets to flex her acting muscles, playing both versions of herself against one another, and Earth-2 Wells keeps on being the cold SOB we know and love. This, and a preview of our possible "Flashpoint" powers restoration scene, on this week's South Kongress Fan X Fan Show!

Fan X Fan Show: 'The Flash' 218 - "Versus Zoom"
We recorded this hours after learning the world lost Prince, one of it's most important figures of (at the very least) the last century. Travis and I talk at length about Prince's impact on our culture, our families and ourselves. After I shed a tear or two, we get into our weeks, and Travis continues to enjoy his new reads. I'll tell you about the Gilani/Seemion wedding, and my first acting audition in years! Then... oh boy. Travis and I take turns yelling at the television as Team Flash comes up with a plan (kinda) to stop Zoom (maybe?) once and for all (we hoped kinda maybe). Wally decides the rent is too damn high, Cisco decides the dark side is way too close, and Zoom's pops decides the chicken was too damn dry! Some great juxtaposing, more and more insight as to why the supporting cast matters so much, and a room full of killers who can't bring themselves to kill this time. Damn. Fan x Fan Show: 'Supergirl' 118- "World's Finest" (Flash Crossover)
(Note: the episode was 50% Batman v. Superman tirade, but the powers that be dropped the recording! DAMN YOU ZACK SNYDER!) In a busy, BUSY week (Wrestlemania is upon us!) Travis was gracious enough to sit down and watch the latest Flash Crossover event, this time with the big budget DC Show 'Supergirl'. A play on the old Batman/Superman team ups, "World's Finest" takes the Scarlet Speedster to the CBS Universe (in more ways than one) to help the Kryptonian Heroine save the day. Trav talks about the great chemistry between the characters, some details on the differences between universes, and catches me up on the "Red Kryptonite/ Martian Manhunter" storyline that's been brewing. You'll catch a VERY small portion of a future Batman v. Superman rant, and hear about our weekly goings on in this special episode of the Fan X Fan show!
Fan X Fan Show: 'The Flash' 217 - "Flash Back"
Time travel makes our heads hurt! On this week's episode, Barry thinks he's found the way to move on par with Zoom and the Reverse Flash, and of course it involves mucking up time as we know it! We revisit the Season 1 episode "The Sound and the Fury" and things get out of hand way sooner than they should have! We talk track coaches, sports science, The Michael J. Fox vehicle "The Frighteners", and really, really good looking CGI. Barry violates the rule of leaving his phone unlocked, Wally finally does something useful, and we tell you all a bit about our upcoming weekend in Dallas on this week's Fan X Fan Show!!!

Fan X Fan Show: 'The Flash' 216 - "Trajectory"
Did you miss us? A tiny bit? OF COURSE you did! After a two week break, thanks to wine (dark liquor) , women and song, Travis and I are back to talk comics, TV, and of course, 'The Flash'! We get to hear about his awesome time at the Black Podcasters Meetup, and some of the great conversation he got to be part of. I'll tell you about the 6 day vice binge that was the South by Southwest music and arts festival and how I'm too old for this (redacted), word to Danny Glover. I saw season 2 of Marvel's 'Daredevil', and I gush over how great Jon Berthnal's Punisher is. No spoilers though, as some of us move at different paces. We talk early Batman v. Superman reviews, and how your love, or hate, of the 'Watchmen' film may have an effect on your star rating. This week's episode of 'The Flash' introduces a new speedster, and tackles the question "why shouldn't we all just do drugs?" one vial at a time. All the science brains come together to solve the Zoom Conundrum, Iris plays a game of "waste his time 2016", and Travis refuses to see what all the girls see in Wally West. Jessie Wells makes a life changing decision, we find out BeyoncĂ© runs more than one world, and Kanye is Kanye, no matter the universe. All this, and more, on this week's Fan x Fan Show! (wanted to work in “speed kills” somewhere, but eh…)
